Day 91: Getting Ready to Ride Beartooth Pass

Bozeman, MT to Red Lodge, MT

154.96 Miles | 2:31 Riding Time

It’s Wednesday, July 10, 2024, and it’s Day 91 of my cross country motorcycle trip.

It was a short day of mostly highway riding to get from Bozeman to Red Lodge. I was on Interstate 90 for most of the way, until Columbus, MT, where I picked up a nice, scenic, twisty road (RT 78) that meandered down to Red Lodge.

Red Lodge is an adorable town. I stayed at the historic Pollard Hotel, which was excellent. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the rooms and food were good as well. I checked in, and walked around the town for a bit. When my room was ready, I settled in and had a nap until dinner.

Right across the street was dinner at Piccola Cucina at Ox Pasture. I ate outside, and it was very good— it reminded me of a restaurant in Soho that Donette and I have eaten at several times. Turns out, it’s the same owners, and they have a few locations.

I made it an early night, because I am planning to ride the Chief Joseph and Beartooth Scenic highways tomorrow.
