Day 81: Meandering Down to Boise

Grangeville, ID to Boise, ID

229.47 Miles | 3:55 Riding Time

It’s Sunday, June 30 2024, and it’s Day 81 of my cross country motorcycle trip.

Today was a pretty and straight ride down RT-95 to Boise. It started out with a short climb up to about 4,200 feet, then a 10-mile downhill to 1,400 feet with long, sweeping turns (and runaway ramps for the trucks). Then, it met up with the Salmon river, and followed it—and the Little Salmon river, all the way to Boise.

Stopped for lunch at the Country Coffee Cabin in Midvale. It’s a small, local coffee shop and diner with a salad and lunch bar. Malibu Chicken Sandwich was tasty, and then back on the road.

The views of the mountains, foothills and the rivers were beautiful. Idaho has an interesting mix of high deserts, forests and valleys—the landscape is amazingly diverse, and dramatic.

Got to my hotel in Boise and got settled. The guest laundry had 2 commercial washers, so my riding gear got a much needed wash. Enchiladas verdes for dinner at La Tapatía, next to my hotel, and turned in for the night.
