Day 97: Over the Teton Pass. Can’t Believe it’s Open.

Jackson Hole, WY up to Mormon Row and Over the Teton Pass to Pocatello, ID

173.26 Miles | 3:28 Riding Time

It’s Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and it’s Day 97 of my cross country motorcycle trip.

On June 7th, a section of the Teton Pass collapsed. The pictures were dramatic, and it looked like it was going to take months—or years—to get it back open. Amazingly, they had it open in just 3 weeks, and today, I’m riding over it.

Scott and I started the day by going back up to the park and visiting the houses and barns on Mormon Row, including the famous Moulton barn. We then headed back down through Jackson and started over the Teton pass.

And, it started raining. The, it started hailing (pea sized). We cleared the pass and, as expected, the weather was completely different on the other side. We made it over and passed through the area that was closed just a few weeks earlier. In Victor, ID, we made a left onto RT-26 and were rewarded with a beautiful ride with sweeping turns and rolling hills for miles and miles.

A little bit of US-15 to Pocatello, ID. Checked in to the hotel. Got some dinner. Made a Walmart Run. And did some laundry.
