Days 45-47: Taking my Mac in for Service

Carmel by the Sea, CA to Cupertino, CA, then back down to Big Sur for the day

82.33 Miles | 1:42 Riding Time

It’s Saturday, May 25, 2024, and it’s Day 45 of my cross country motorcycle trip.

My Mac is fine, but I’m heading to Cupertino today, so I needed to say something about Apple. My brother in law, Scott, lives in Cupertino. I’m going to spend Memorial day weekend at his place. Then, he’s going to join me with his Porsche for a few days driving while I ride north.

My original plan was to ride down RT 1, from Carmel to Big Sur. But that little bit of rain yesterday turned into a lot of rain overnight. And, it was still drizzling and very foggy in the morning. So, I just headed inland and over to Cupertino. It was a pretty uneventful and short ride.

I arrived at Scott’s in the early afternoon, settled in, and threw in some laundry. We headed down to a sushi place down in Santana Row in San Jose. Had dinner and walked around there for a while. Sunday, we had a pretty lazy day while we waited for his car, which was in for some service, to be ready. It finally was done around 6:30pm, and we picked it up.

Since I didn’t get to ride to Big Sur, we drove down there on Memorial day. Stopped in Carmel for a great lunch at Stationæry, and headed down RT 1. It was a gorgeous day, and we took in the cliffs along the road. We passed the Rocky Creek Slide site, where a section of RT 1 fell off—it was down to one lane, and drove over the famous Bixby Bridge. I admit that it was nice change being a passenger and getting to look at all the scenery and stick my camera out the window.

Back in Cupertino, we had dinner and made our plan for the next few days—follow RT 1 north, over the Golden Gate Bridge, visit Muir Woods, and continue north for a few days. Then, Scott will head home and I’ll continue on to Oregon and parts north.
