Day 112: Home!

252.03 Miles | 4:21 Riding Time

It’s Wednesday, July 31, 2024, and it’s Day 112, the last day, of my cross country motorcycle trip.

I’m on my way home today. I’ve done this ride, from Painted Post to NYC, quite a few times and I know it well. The weather was a lot like yesterday—intermittent rain—all the way through NY, down to Scranton, PA and into NJ. Once I got to NJ, it cleared up and started getting hot. By the time I got to NYC, it was brutally hot and humid.

But I made it! I’m back to Donette, Finley, friends, colleagues, and the City I call home. It feels good to be home. I thought I’d share some stats:

  • 112 Days on the road

  • 18,225 Miles traveled

  • 28 US States visited

  • 29 US National Parks visited

  • 3 Canadian provinces visited

  • 3 Canadian National Parks visited

  • 2 New sets of tires

  • 1 New water pump

  • 3 Oil changes (every 6,000 miles)

Thank you to all the people who followed my adventures, met me along the way, or gave me some words of encouragement in person or online. I met so many interesting folks, from all over the world, who were also exploring the beautiful sights, tastes and experiences in the US and Canada. And, I also met folks who were eager to share the things they love about where they live.

Let me know in the comments what questions you have about the trip, I’ll be following up in the coming days and weeks with some additional thoughts about common conversations I had along the way, and what people are generally curious about.

It was an amazing trip, and I feel so fortunate to have been able to do it.
