Day 18: Nashville, TN to Cape Girardeau, MO

207.6 Miles | 3:16 Riding Time

Today is Sunday, April 28, 2024, and it’s Day 18 of my cross country motorcycle trip.

As you can see by the first picture, there’s a dangerous storm front moving in. It has been making news with massive thunderstorms and dozens of tornadoes from Oklahoma up to Nebraska. See this incredible video from the Weather Channel.

I need to generally go North and West. I was hoping to get to Little Rock, AR today and let the storm pass over night. But, the storm decided it wanted to get to Little Rock before I would. So….

I went north, and back to Cape Girardeau. It was a quick, and entirely uneventful ride. Of course there was that guy sticking his nose out the window at more than 72 miles per hour (speed limit was 70, folks). He seemed to be enjoying himself.

I left early and made it back to Cape Girardeau before 11am. It was just a practical, travel day. Not much to report.
