Day 13: Bardstown, KY to Louisville, KY

64 Miles | 1:32 Riding Time

Today is Tuesday, April 23, 2024, and it’s Day 13 of my cross country motorcycle trip.

It was a short riding day, but a big day for food and drink. I was checking out of the Bardstown Motor Lodge, and Whitney and Paul suggested Sissy’s Tacos for lunch. Who doesn’t love a great taco truck, and…it’s Tuesday!! So, off to Sissy’s I went. Since it was only 19.6 miles, I took the “long” way.

Trying to be a little health-conscious, I had the Carnitas Salad, and it was very, very good. Two thumbs up for Colten's Carnita's Salad—Slow-cooked marinated pork butt, onion, cilantro, pineapple, sissy sauce, lime, and cheese. Served over a bed of lettuce (Authentic wIth a Southern Twist)

After that, it was just boring highway riding to get to my hotel. I took the opportunity to walk down main steet in Louisville and check out the bourbon…I mean sights.

I visited the Louisville Slugger factory, and gift shop. Then, across the street to the Michter’s distillery and The Bar at Fort Nelson. It’s a great spot, and the bartenders there take their garnishes quite seriously, as you can see by the picture of my Bourbon Manhattan.

Dinner was at Repeal steakhouse, and it was delicious! Also congratulations to the happy couple sitting next to me. They are getting married on Wednesday, and I wish you all the best!

It was nice to be able to walk around the city and feel like I actually spent some time there. Thanks Louisville.
